Salivary Testing

Why We’re Now Offering Salivary Testing

At Weisenberger Dental we’re always looking for ways to improve your oral and overall health. That’s why we’ve added salivary diagnostic testing to our care offerings.

This non-invasive test helps us identify the specific bacteria living in your mouth, some of which are strongly linked to gum disease, tooth decay, and even systemic conditions like heart disease, diabetes, and Alzheimer’s disease.

We test for high-risk pathogens such as:

  • Porphyromonas gingivalis (Pg) – a leading cause of periodontal disease and inflammation

  • Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans (Aa) – associated with aggressive forms of gum disease

  • Tannerella forsythia and Treponema denticola – known contributors to chronic gum infection

  • Fusobacterium nucleatum – linked to both gum disease and systemic inflammation

  • Streptococcus mutans – a primary contributor to cavities and tooth decay

Understanding your unique oral microbiome allows us to personalize your treatment—whether that’s adjusting your cleanings, recommending targeted therapies, or helping prevent disease before it starts.

If you'd like to learn more or schedule your salivary test, feel free to call us at 513-321-7300 or ask us at your next appointment.
